Workers on Site Canada Day. Crane installation &
Lombard St. Road Closure on Saturday, July 3.

Workers on site July 1. Work on Friday July 2. Road closure on Lombard Street and crane installation on Saturday, July 3.

Today, Wednesday, June 30, the long-reach excavator has been removed from the site. A flatbed truck arrived at approximately 4 pm to take the excavator away.

Tomorrow, Thursday, July 1 workers will be on the site digging and doing general preparation work. There will be no hauling as the sites that receive the removed soil are closed for the Canada Day holiday.

Friday, July 2, will be dedicated to extending the stair tower within the site, and replacing the jersey barriers with traffic barrels to facilitate access to the site for the crane on Saturday, July 3. We expect Friday to be a short work day, with no impact on traffic and pedestrian access on Lombard Street.

Lombard Street Road Closure – Saturday, July 3 for Crane installation.

On Saturday, July 3: Lombard Street will be closed in the morning and remain closed until the crane work is completed. Traffic control staff will allow residents to access the parking garage at the Bentley. There will be signs showing ‘road closed’ at Church Street and at Jarvis Street. Pedestrian access to the south side of sidewalk on Lombard, adjacent to the site, will depend on safety conditions at during the work. If something is being moved in the air pedestrians will need to wait for that to be completed, i.e. until it is safe to walk along that section of sidewalk. If nothing is being hoisted, traffic controllers will allow pedestrians to walk by on the south side of Lombard.

If bad weather were to prevent work proceeding on Saturday, the crane work and the associated road closure would by necessity have to occur on Sunday.
